Tumenzi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at north Tumenzi in Chunhua Village, Hunchun County, Jilin Province. It was named by Okada S. and Nisida V. in 1940 and was resurveyed by the Jilin Geological Bureau in 1978. Geographical coordinates of the type section: 43°16′00″N, 131°4′00″E (GPS).
Synonym: Tumentzu Series, Tomonsi Series; It is synonymous with Ma’anshan Fm.
Lithology and Thickness
It is characterized by the sandstones, conglomerates, clays, and diatomite. In the diatomaceous earth, there are one or two layers of basalts, whose thickness varies from several meters to dozens of meters. The thickness of Tumenzi Fm is 420 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Tumenzi Fm is in faulted contact with the underlying Hunchun Fm.
Upper contact
The Tumenzi Fm is in in unconformable contact with the overlying Chuandishan Fm.
Regional extent
The Tumenzi Fm is distributed in Hunchun City, east of Jilin Province, and in west Heilongjiang as well.

Fossils
Plants: Zelkova, Quercus, and Betula. Sporopollen assemblages: Quercoidites- Ulmipollenites- Liquidambarpollenites. Diatoms are also found in this formation.
